Vital Play Initiative

Events list

Palinode is a philosophical technology collective creating thoughtful tools, media, courses, and live programs rooted in the exploration of what it means to be human. Our work brings together deep philosophy, humane technology, collective intelligence, and the arts to cultivate more meaningful relationships with ourselves, one another, and the world around us.

Through Palinode Productions, we create public-facing experiences for rigorous, accessible philosophy and humane-tech inquiry: podcasts, essays, Jam Sessions, short courses, workshops, and live events. We are especially interested in philosophy as a transformative practice, not merely as information or academic specialization.

Our live programs use what we call vital play: a workshop-to-performance model where artists, musicians, philosophers, designers, technologists, and audiences explore shared questions through music, image, myth, performance, conversation, and public gathering. La Primavera is our first public presentation of this model in Portland: an intimate experiment in how Renaissance music, myth, and philosophy can become a living ritual of renewal.

Palinode is also developing Khora, an open-source philosophical search engine and social space powered by machine learning. Khora helps people explore ideas visually by connecting concepts, arguments, texts, images, questions, and interpretive pathways. In live events like La Primavera, Khora can serve as an interpretive layer: a way to reveal the constellation of myths, philosophical sources, and artistic references behind a performance while keeping the human encounter, the music, and the artwork at the center.
